Do you desire to know the Word on a deeper level, but having a hard time figuring out where to start? Do you need accountability in staying active in reading Scripture? Maybe you need a system or process for Bible study.
Those who know me best know that I have a system for every habit that I am developing. I want to be further along than where I am, not just next year but next week, so I push myself to grow. Simply picking up a Bible and reading can be difficult or intimidating and so I’ve developed a process that has helped me in my Bible study. Maybe one or two of these tools will help you grow further and faster in your personal Bible Study habits.
1. Start a Reading Plan on the YouVersion App YouVersion is a simple, ad-free Bible app that offers more than 150 reading plans to choose from to fit your preferences and needs. Once you subscribe to a plan, you can receive notifications and reminders to help keep you on track and motivated. You can also share your reading plan with friends to build accountability and encouragement.
2. Blue Letter Bible App or Webpage This tool is designed to take you deeper into the meaning and understanding of the Bible. The Blue Letter Bible is a study software with Greek and Hebrew word tools. Simply click a verse and you can see commentaries, translation comparisons, and an interlinear concordance. The Blue Letter Bible developed this name because of the blue color of the hyperlinks that help connect you to other resources.
3. Scripture Memory – FighterVerses App Memorizing Scripture doesn’t have to be difficult. FighterVerses was created to “help believers persevere in the fight of faith by arming them with God’s Word.” This tool offers songs, quizzes, review functions, and other resources, but my favorite is the foundations verse collection that helps you memorize a solid foundation of Scripture. Simply download the app, select the verses, and set up a schedule with reminders.
4. NeuBible App or a physical book We live in a world of notifications and communication. Sometimes I need to walk away from everything that distracts me and simply meditate on God’s Word. The NeuBible app offers a simplified, distraction-free reading experience. If using this app still allows for to many distractions for you, set your device down, pick up a good old fashioned printed Bible, and find a place where you can be alone with God and His Word.
5. Ask Questions “A questioning faith is a growing faith.” I have heard this truth spoken by my mentor at least a dozen times. One of the best tools you can add to your toolbox is to sit down with someone and ask questions about the Bible. None of us have all the answers, but together we can seek the truth.
Is there a tool that you would add to this list? Do you have a question that we can work on together? Let us know in the comments!
